Robert Baden-Powell – the founder of Boy Scouts in the UK, asked his sister (Agnes) to run the Girl Guides in 1910. Scouting has always meant to be an inclusive entity from its very beginnings – and again, as we are a family organization, there is no reason we can't do the same!

For those girls who have brothers in Pack 551, they can now join us & have their own Den affiliation. They are encouraged to participate with their brothers both at a Den level (subject to Den leader guidance), and at a Pack level (under the She Chief's supervision).

This program - as administered by the Concerned Parents of Margaret Mead (NOT an official BSA group)is not meant to take anything away from Girl Scouts – this is simply a way to have the girls participate in Pack 551’s family-centric fun, remind the current Cubs that “we are all in this together,” and make sure that none of the girls who would like to participate do not feel left out of the fun.

Note that this is not as crazy as it may seem – another Pack within Chief Seattle Council does a similar program, the UK Scout organization is now co-ed, and once boys & girls are 14 years old, the program offered by the BSA is also a co-ed organization (Venture Scouts).
